Small gripe about what I heard on UHF this morning

Amateur Radio

I was on the way back home from the gym this morning.  I was listening to the Saltgrass Link System here in Austin (442.450).  For those who don’t know what that is, it is Amateur Radio or Ham Radio.

I won’t mention names or callsigns but I heard something that ruffled my feathers.  I didn’t join the discussion because I was sickened by what I heard.  This fellow in Houston was driving his truck in a parking garage while talking on the air.  He apparently does some type of service that requires him to travel onsite.  He was commenting on all of the cars in the garage.  ”Porsche, Lexus, Mercedes, Mercedes, Lexus, Mercedes…”.  Ok, he was amazed by the high priced cars in the garage.

The comment that disturbed me was “If I had a Porsche like that, I wouldn’t be at work at 07:00!”.  I have a question: How do you think he affords the Porsche?  HE (SHE) WORKS LONG AND HARD!  Does he think that the guy fell and found a set of keys and a title on the ground?  Did money fall from the sky?  No, HE (SHE) WORKED/WORKS HARD FOR MONEY!

Sorry, the current political crap that is going on is spurring this rant.  If I work hard for money, I want to keep it.  If I decide to give it away, I will.  Otherwise, keep your hands out of my pockets.  Obviously, the $250,000 tax crap won’t hit me but some day, it might.  Or, that amount can lower.  Either way, If you work hard for something, you should be able to keep it.

Again, sorry for the rant…
