So I hear a lot of people have issues with BF in public. Either they are uncomfortable with it for various reasons or they’ve had negative responses.
Being uncomfortable is something they need to work out on their own. I’ve never really had that issue. I think nursing your child is the MOST natural thing you could be doing and to hide in a closet somewhere is weird, not the other way around.
But when it comes to negative responses, that’s just terrible. I’ve heard of people being asked to leave places (which by the way is against the law. There is no state in the US that you aren’t protected in someway. So BF away!). I’ve also heard of people getting dirty looks from strangers or even nasty comments about how they are being indecent (sp?)
I’ve luckily never encountered anything negative. Everything has always been a positve look or telling me I was doing good. I even had a mother of 2 tell me how impressed she was that I could walk around the store while carrying and nursing Zoe. She wasn’t that coordinated she said. So that was cool.
I guess I just want to say to all those negative people- get with the program! Nursing is natural! You don’t eat your meals in a closet or sitting on a toilet, don’t expect a baby to breastfeeds to eat like that either!
And to all those supportive people. Thank you! Keep up the positive comments.
yay for boobie feeding!
good for you Tammy; BF is the MOST natural thing
