Our final night. Again.

We haven’t made it home yet. We left the campground late as everything was frozen. Our plan was to leave early in the morning as we could unpack in the daylight. Plans were foiled! Grrr, Mr. Iceman! We are staying 3 miles from home. And roughing it with power, running water and heat! It’s hard. Now we can calmly unload in the morning.

For the first time ever!!! I pumped a little after she ate because she didnt eat much. Then she burped a couple times and seemed hungry again. Daddy got to feed her the pumped milk! Aww!

24 degrees! That is what it said when we woke up this morning. I was pulled out of bed by a chill in the air and the clicking of the heater that was starved of fuel. I had to get clothes on and switch gas tanks. Before heading outside, I tried to use the water. No love there either. There was no running water. That means NO COFFEE! Argh. Oh well. I changed the tanks and Tammy and the baby are warm again. The ground is frozen and the dogs don’t understand how to pee on the frozen grass. Things are already melting and the sun is warming the area well. We have dripping water in the sink so it should start working again soon. The gauge says 34 degrees already. That is within an hour.

Travel is DELAYED

Ice makes us stay.

Tammy and I discussed it this morning and decided to travel home tomorrow. We did not want to risk driving in the ice here in the Dallas area with a travel trailer attached to the truck. Our little girl’s life is too valuable. Tammy had to reschedule her doctor appointment later than Wednesday.

Poppy and Zoe

We visited Corsicana today. It was a short visit but it was nice. Poppy got to play with Zoe and they both had a great time. We all had a great time. Pete called while I was there and warned that there was a really bad weather front coming in to the area. Sure enough, we are wanting to leave in the morning and we are faced with the possibility of bad weather (read: ICE!). We will figure out everything in the morning as we sleep well in our warm RV. Life is good, love every day!

Visit with Aunt Claire

Today we did something that should have been done a hundred years ago. We went to visit my aunt Claire. It was very nice and she and her husband (my uncle), Reza, have not changed a bit. They are just fit as a fiddle. I was somewhat surprised when she opened the door. I expected to see an elderly lady and expected her to feebly crack the door open. Nope, I was wrong. She was EXACTLY the way I remembered from decades ago! She is one fit momma! She looked great and we had a great time visiting with everyone. Pete and his family also attended. We had a delicious dinner at Poppasitas after talking for about an hour. Aunt Claire was the master at holding Zoe and keeping her asleep. It was great!

Whew! We really rough it when camping. Leaving the heated RV to brave the cold to walk the dogs and then having a hot breakfast with coffee. It’s tough.

Spoons for eats

We are having a late lunch in downtown McKinney at a place called Spoons. So far so good. Waitress could import a personality but otherwise, it’s ok. Baby Zoe is being wonderful so far. I hope she let’s Tammy eat.

I love when Zoe lays out on my chest as if she crashed in to me at 100 miles per hour. Tammy and I call this position SPLAT. She is so warm. I love her so much!

Don’t kick wheel chocks

When I was connecting the RV to the truck, I tried to kick out a wheel chock. The bad thing is that I was wearing running shoes. I put all of my power in the big toe. I really expected it to be loose but it was not! Ouch! Can you tell which, right, big toe is possibly broken? Silly me!

Las Rocas

We are eating dinner at Las Rocas Mexican Cocina. So far, so good. Just eating chips now waiting for food. We have been just resting all day and enjoying ourselves. Our site is fairly bland but it is quiet and there is plenty of space. We will be shopping after dinner for BBQ supplies.
