People are whining all over about a stuck accelarator pedal on Toyotas. My Tundra is affected. If people truly understood what they were talking about, the would not worry so bad.

Basically it gets stuck. Toyota advises te customer to remove the mat on the driver’s side. Ok, it sticks on the mat. Also, the “rare instances” they describe are when you press the accelerator to the floor! Not many people do that daily or at all!

What to do when it happens? Be calm. Tap the gear selector to Neutral. Turn key back one click (not off or remove the key). Pull the thing over and stop without power steering or power brakes. That is it. Then reach down and pull the pedal up and carry on!

It’s ok, people. Just use your head.

Answer: Use a real GPS.

I have traveled a good bit recently. I have used a Garmin GPS in the RV, a Toyota GPS in the wife’s minivan and also an iPhone to supplement both at times. The biggest thing is when you have no service (read – AT&T sucks!) you will not have map data. If you are lost, do you want to look for cellular service so you can find your way out? NO! A real GPS has maps stored on the device and requires no outside information. I use the iPhone at times to look things up but it will never be good enough to be any type of automobile navigation. Save your pennies and get a real GPS. I have also owned a TomTom but I would recommend any Garmin over the TomTom. The Toyota GPS was more helpful in Canada in my experience (over Garmin).

TomTom released it’s navigation application for the iPhone and the link will take you to a review of the application if you want to see it.

I am in yesterday’s cloths and flip flops. Not appropriate but comfortable. I cranked the heat up. On the “Auto” setting, it progressively blow harder as it warms up. I start to feel heat blowing on BOTH of my tootsie as opposed to just one!

They ran heater hose to both feet! That is great! I’m just warming me feet the final bit right now – both of them!
